Nonetheless, I made it around a sort of circuit. My reward at the end was one of my favorite trees—a mimosa. It has delicate pink flowers—and such bold color!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

You’d think we’d be used to the flooding here in Texas, and that we’d figure out a better way to manage these downpours. It’s a complicated thing that I can’t begin to understand.

Finding Our Strength

Waiting for the Eclipse

In the spirit of magical thinking, I blew some air towards the dark cloud, thinking how nice it would be for it to go away. Who knows why it happened, but it did. The cloud dissipated.

Feeling Weightless—or Not

Feldenkrais said that the purpose of the skeleton is to make us feel weightless. And sometimes we do get that sense of feeling light and easy, able to move freely in our space. Our bones give us the capacity to lift ourselves up from the ground, in spite of gravity. It’s a wondrous thing.
