Emptiness or Spaciousness

June 3, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

Maybe it would be easier to let go, if the imagined result looked more like spaciousness than emptiness.

Remembering

May 27, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

It’s also a good day to consider what we individually might do to encourage peace. What might we say and do, that could make our world a more peaceful place, where we can find better ways to live together on this earth?

Small Delights

May 20, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

With all the stuff going on in the whole world and in our own little corners of the world, it’s nice to have small delights to make us smile, slow down, breathe a little better, and enjoy.

Pink Flowers and Blue Sky

May 13, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

Nonetheless, I made it around a sort of circuit. My reward at the end was one of my favorite trees—a mimosa. It has delicate pink flowers—and such bold color!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

May 6, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

You’d think we’d be used to the flooding here in Texas, and that we’d figure out a better way to manage these downpours. It’s a complicated thing that I can’t begin to understand.

Waiting For…

April 29, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

Have you noticed that time seems to go by faster and faster? My mother-in-law used to say, “I wake up on Monday morning, and when I go to bed, it’s Friday night.”

Finding Our Strength

April 22, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

When we face challenges, it’s easy to spot weaknesses. However, if we look at ourselves as a rich and complex system, we can start to identify the inner resources that allow us to stand in our own power.

Waiting for the Eclipse

April 15, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

In the spirit of magical thinking, I blew some air towards the dark cloud, thinking how nice it would be for it to go away. Who knows why it happened, but it did. The cloud dissipated.

Feeling Weightless—or Not

April 8, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

Feldenkrais said that the purpose of the skeleton is to make us feel weightless. And sometimes we do get that sense of feeling light and easy, able to move freely in our space. Our bones give us the capacity to lift ourselves up from the ground, in spite of gravity. It’s a wondrous thing.

Where to Start?

March 25, 2024/0 Comments/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter/by Gika Rector

I never thought of myself as having any sort of attention deficit disorder, but I do like having a variety of projects, books, activities going on.
