Waiting for the Eclipse

Dear Reader,
We found a small Texas town that was in the center of the totality pathway. We parked, set up our lawn chairs, ate our sandwiches and waited. Using our special glasses, we looked up at the sky to see the moon slowly crossing in front of the sun. Every now and then clouds came between us and the moon and sun. As the moon was getting close to completely blocking the sun, another dark cloud blocked our view. At the same time, the world was getting darker. Street lights came on, and the air got distinctly cooler.
In the spirit of magical thinking, I blew some air towards the dark cloud, thinking how nice it would be for it to go away. Who knows why it happened, but it did. The cloud dissipated, and we could see the totality of the eclipse. The moon had a halo of light around it, and we even saw what might have been a solar flare peaking out. Magical indeed!
Gradually, the moon kept moving, and sunlight returned. A family nearby had a boombox playing John Denver’s “Sunshine on My Shoulder.” Nice timing!
The universe really is a magical place. Aren’t we lucky to be here?
Here are some ways we can explore together—the magic of movement, the magic of being ourselves, the magic of what’s possible in our lives:
