Exhaling fully tells the nervous system that there’s too much carbon dioxide and that there’s too little oxygen. It’s a nice metaphor for other aspects of our lives. What’s building up in our lives that needs to go away, to make space for something fresh?
Sometimes we need rest sentences. Time to do something nourishing, calming or just innocuous. To give a part of ourselves the space to make sense of what we’re experiencing.
As this year has unfolded, I have a new appreciation for how our lives are all intertwined, the way we touch one another, whether close or far away.
Perhaps the best way to be fully human is to experience the richness of life—the good, the bad, and the ugly. As sad as I am to watch dear friends wind down their lives, I’m equally grateful for the richness and grace that their lives have added to mine.
She was fun, totally fun. Life was an adventure, a joy, something to relish with friends and loved ones. Until it wasn’t. Until it all came crashing in and it was too much.
