Finding a New Normal

Dear Reader,

When life happens, and when it’s challenging, I find myself wanting to go back to normal—whatever that is.

When I was a kid, I thought it would be grand to have Christmas all year long.

After a really nice Feldenkrais lesson, or coaching session, or after making something that turned out even better than expected, I want to hold on to the experience. To make it last and last, to carry me forward in all the best ways.

How do we keep those good feelings? Maybe it’s something we learn to do more and more. Paying attention, opening up to finding grace—in our movements, in our lives. Learning to find ease, even as we do challenging things. Learning to discern where we work too hard, and how to let go.

The more we find ease and grace, the more we let go of unnecessary striving, the more we create a new normal—a new normal that we can come back to again and again.

Perhaps it starts with a pause. A little moment to breathe in and breathe out. And perhaps allow our lips to form a smile—just for a moment, or two.

If you’d like to learn a bit more about pausing, breathing, finding ease and grace, here are some ways we can work together:

Our weekly online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement isn’t in person, but it does bring a sense of doing something worthwhile, in the company of other humans. And, usually improves our breathing. And, it’s Free/Pay as You Wish.

For an in-person experience, I’m offering Lift Your Heart: A Feldenkrais Mini-Retreat on Saturday afternoon, February 28, at the Jung Center of Houston.

Please note: No Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson on February 3. Classes will resume the following Tuesday.

If you’d like to work with me privately, in person or online—Feldenkrais, coaching or felt-making—you can Book an Appointment or reply to this email and let me know what you’re interested in.
