Distractions

Dear Reader,

Maybe it’s curiosity. Maybe it’s procrastination—or avoidance? I’m not really sure what to call it, but I do find myself easily distracted by a wide variety of interests.

Today my attention has ranged from potted plants, to emerging crimson clover not too far from my house, to social media posts, to a few more rows of knitting on a purple cardigan—just to name a few things.

Some of the attention grabbers are more fun than others. An annoying statement on social media, not so fun. A book about baking with regionally grown and stone-milled flours, makes me want to get out my favorite dough bowls. Crimson clover, a delightful indication that spring is on its way.

You won’t be too surprised to hear me say that one of the things I love about Feldenkrais lessons is their intrinsic invitation to slow down. To slow down my movements, my thinking, my pulse. To slow down and notice—and enjoy. Somehow it’s easier to focus on doing what I really want—and need—to do.

Coaching offers some of the same advantages—for clients and me. We slow down, look at things from different angles, get curious about what’s possible.

Making felt works in a different way. Wool fibers go from loose fuzzy things to something strong, durable, and usually quite beautiful, right there in our very own hands. It takes some time and effort, so again, it’s an invitation to slow down, notice and explore what’s possible.

What grabs your attention? What slows you down? What piques your curiosity? Are you having any fun yet?

As usual, we slow down on Tuesdays for our weekly online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson, and it’s still Free/Pay as You Wish.

If you’d like to work with me privately, you can Book an Appointment for a Feldenkrais or Coaching session, or for a free consult. You can even set up a time for a private, or semi-private felting session. Or you can simply reply to this email and let me know what’s most interesting to you.

I hope you find only the nicest distractions—and have all the fun you can!
