Well, Duh!

Dear Reader,

It’s interesting that something can be so puzzling—until it’s not. One of my favorite weaving teachers used to say, “It just doesn’t make any sense until you understand it.” She knew some stuff!

I’ve known—and talked about—for some time now, that there’s a not so obvious connection among the ways I work with people. Not so many years ago, I could not have imagined that I would be an IAPPC Certified Coach, a Feldenkrais practitioner, and that I would teach felt-making. What a strange combination! What in the world might these rolls have in common?

Over time, I began to recognize that a core aspect of what I do is to help people expand and refine their self image. What does that mean? It means that they know more about who they really are, and that they refine that knowledge. For example, in Feldenkrais, they broaden their understanding of how they move—in big ways, and in subtle, detailed ways. In coaching, they gain a broader sense of their strengths, as well as the details of how they might get in their own way. In felt-making, they discover not only what their hands can create, but also how they can be creative in their own unique way.

I’ve noticed as I work with Feldenkrais clients that they often appreciate adding in conversations about how this movement work affects so many aspects of their lives. Often, it’s not just a physical movement issue that instigates their efforts at making a change. When we do the movement work and add in coaching conversations, the beneficial outcomes are accelerated.

Generally, when we add in the coaching conversations, we need a bit more time. If we talk too long, we don’t have much time for the Feldenkrais work. If we only do the Feldenkrais, there’s not much time for talking. What to do?

Well, duh! It seems so obvious now, but I guess that’s how things work sometimes.

In short, I have a new offering. You can now book a 90-minute Combined Coaching and Feldenkrais sessions. I’ve been doing this casually with a number of clients, and it’s so much fun to see how they grow. I hope you’ll like it as much as I do. If you’re interested, you can Book an Appointment for a free consult or jump right in and schedule a Coaching/Feldenkrais session.

And, of course, we still have our Tuesday online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson and it’s Free/Pay as You Wish.

In the meantime, please let me know what you’re puzzling over, and what “Well, Duh!” insights you’ve had lately.

As always, have all the fun you can!
