Dear Reader,
Switching gears from a big event is a big deal. It seems like it should be easy enough, but it can take more time and energy than expected.
I still remember Walter Cronkite talking about how the space capsule had to hit the earth’s atmosphere at just the right angle or it would blow up. Coming back to some sort of normal after a major life event seems similar. Run at it too hard and fast, and your head just might explode. Go too slowly and you might have the sense that you’ll never get moving again.
Finding the balance is challenging but worthwhile. A bit of relaxing, a bit of puttering around, a bit of reflection on what just happened, and some more reflection on what might be next. I can tell you that it’s nice to take it slow and easy. Tempting to dive into the next thing—whatever that might be—and very nice to chill out. As my Quaker friend used to say, “As the way opens.”
And some things just have their own rhythm of moving back toward normal. For example, our Tuesday online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons resume this week. These classes are excellent for slowing down and allowing movement to flow “as the way opens.”
