Progress

Dear Reader,
Some things just take a while. By some standards, a garage is a fairly simple thing. But when you add in insurance, permits, finding just the right contractor, and life, the process isn’t quite as simple as one would like.
But I’m here to say that there has been Progress. Our garage rebuild is virtually complete. And by virtually, I mean almost finished. There are a few details to take care of, but it’s now functioning as a garage. I’m also happy to report that I still remember what buttons to push to make the garage doors go up and down.
It feels like a new normal. The inside looks a little different, and it seems like there should be more people coming and going to work on stuff. Pretty soon the new normal will feel as if it’s always been this way.
Life is like that. Stuff takes time; maybe you think a project will never get done. Then, after you blink a few times, it’s complete and you’re on to the next thing.
Feldenkrais and coaching can be a bit like that too. You start working on improving something, and it might take a while. Perhaps you get discouraged. You make changes. One day you notice that something is now easier. Maybe you didn’t notice the changes along the way, but they’re now the new normal.
It’s a good idea to pause every now and then and look at how far you’ve come. The lessons you’ve learned. The contributions you’ve made. The things you’ve shared. Celebrate. You’ve come a long way, and you’re still here to notice. Have all the fun you can.
Here’s what’s on the schedule:
Our weekly online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson is midday on Tuesdays and it’s Free/Pay As You Wish. Most of the lessons are lying on your back, doing easy, gentle movements that create better mobility and ease.
Felting Tiny Vessels is an in-person workshop at the Jung Center of Houston, on Friday afternoon, September 12. The magic of felt-making is that you can take some soft Merino wool fibers and transform them into little bowls or bags to held small treasures or big ideas. No experience or talent required. Bring some curiosity and willingness to play.
Breathing Room: A Feldenkrais Mini-retreat is an opportunity to experience this Feldenkrais stuff I’m been talking about. Simple movements to expand the ribs, making breathing—and so much else—easier.
Progress is great—something to celebrate. It’s even better if you manage to have some fun along the way. Enjoy!
