New Beginnings

Dear Reader,
I don’t remember when I first planted a Maggie rose bush. I liked the rich carmine moving toward crimson color. And the fragrance. That beautiful rose scent—the way a rose should smell. I’m not sure when the bush disappeared. Maybe after a freeze or a drought.
So I just planted a new one. It felt good to dig in the dirt—I didn’t even mind dirt under my fingernails. And this new bush has at least a couple of buds on it. It’s near the mailbox, so I’ll see it regularly.
Across the driveway from the new bush, I planted some prostrate rosemary. Years ago I had so much that my young son thought it must be the biggest rosemary in the whole world. It went the mysterious way of that old rose bush. So, again, a fresh start. Not much farther from the mailbox, so I can keep an eye on it too.
Life seems to offer us so many changes. I’m beginning to think that no matter how old we grow, we keep on having new opportunities to look at ourselves differently. What parts of ourselves have disappeared? What might we plant to nurture new growth? Who and what might emerge as we once again begin anew?
In your life, what has fallen away? What seeds would you like to plant? Are you curious about what might emerge?
I’d love for you to join me in exploring possibilities—through movement, coaching or creativity. They’re all great ways to nurture new growth.
