Warming Up

Dear Reader,

You don’t have to spend much time with me to realize that I don’t like to be cold. Never have, and probably never will.

But that’s not the type of warming up I’m thinking about today. I’m talking about warming up to get going on a project. I’ve got some sewing projects in mind. When I first started thinking about them, the process seemed pretty obvious. Pick a pattern and some fabric and get going. For better or worse, I know a lot about sewing and have high expectations for the results of my projects.

Um, that means they should always be perfect. Regrettably, striving for perfection means that sometimes I hardly even get started. So, today, I tried another tactic. Warm up with a simple, low cost project, with materials already on hand. Get back in the groove of sewing. Remember why I like it.

And, nope, it’s not perfect. But I like it. It didn’t take long, and it’s a finished object that I’ve had in mind for quite a while. I even utilized a couple of ideas I’d been considering for months.

Maybe you have something you’d like to get started on—or pick back up again. What would it take to get warmed up? What might help you get unstuck?

I’ve started calling my work, “Quiet Storm Mentoring.” It’s not big and dramatic, but it does create movement—physically, emotionally, creatively. If you’re feeling stuck, and would like some help moving forward, here are some possibilities:

Almost every Tuesday, we have our online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson and it’s Free/Pay as You Wish.

And if you’d like to know more or schedule a private session, you can Book an Appointment or reply to this email to let me know what you’re interested in.

Whether you’re just warming up or already immersed in moving forward, have all the fun you can.
