Sometimes We Need a Pause

Dear Reader,

Words are powerful—for better and for worse.

There have been distinct moments when words fell out of my mouth. “Sure, I’d love to do that.” Really? What made me say that? As it turns out, I did love doing “that,” but somehow it was surprising.

“I think I need to talk with you.” This simple sentence was the beginning of my movement toward becoming a coach. I had no idea that those words would change my life.

And we’ve all had times when words spilled out, and we didn’t like the consequences. Ugh.

Sometimes we need a pause—even a micro-pause—to consider what we really want to do or say. Other times, we need a pause just to rest.

As we move deeper into the season of shorter days combined with the hustle and bustle of holidays, please take some moments to pause.

Pause to breathe… Pause to notice… Pause to appreciate… Pause to lend a hand or an ear to someone nearby… Pause to enjoy something new, perhaps something delightful… Perhaps even smell a rose…

The following offerings are my invitation to experience a pause.

Inviting Joy This Holiday Season is a short series of sessions—two Wednesday evening, small-group sessions online, and one private session (in person or online). The group sessions are November 20 and December 11. Each session will include conversation, pauses for contemplation, and movement. You might think of this series as “rest sentences” for the holiday season. (See last week’s newsletter for words about rest sentences.)

Every Tuesday, with rare exceptions, we have our online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson, and it’s still Free/Pay as You Wish.

In person at the Jung Center of Houston, on Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2024, Creating a New Cloth: Nuno Felt Technique. This one is always fun, and sometimes surprising.

If you’d like to work with me privately, you can Book an Appointment for a Feldenkrais or Coaching session, or for a free consult. You can even set up a time for a private, or semi-private felting session. Or you can simply reply to this email and let me know what’s most interesting to you.

Have all the fun you can!
