Slow Slow Quick Quick

Dear Reader,

Making changes is challenging. When we finally decide we want something to change, we’d like for it to happen quickly. We think so, anyway. But, perhaps we’re not quite as ready as we think we are.

It could be slow, slow, and then, suddenly, quick, quick. Sometimes the rhythm starts with quick, quick, and then we slow down. The music keeps on changing too.

What I’ve noticed lately—maybe I should say, “yet again”—is that it’s easy to get discouraged along the way. I notice something I’d like to improve. I see the benefits! Woohoo! I’m energized and ready to get on with getting there. Sometimes, I even start right away. But the desired changes rarely happen overnight, and somewhere along the way, it feels like a slog.

And almost always, there’s a period in which it seems that the change might never happen.

Farther along the path, I find myself noticing that something has indeed gotten better. It’s not easy to pinpoint when it happened, and now—believe it or not—it’s the new normal.

One of the most important things to remember is to keep going. As one of my favorite professors said, “Keep on keeping on.”

Perhaps you’re interested in making some changes—maybe they’re small but significant improvements, or maybe they’re daunting transitions. It’s nice to have help and encouragement along the way. Feldenkrais, coaching and felt-making each are great ways to add wisdom and fun to the process.

Here’s what’s available:

Every Tuesday, with rare exceptions, we have our online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson, and it’s still Free/Pay as You Wish.

In person at the Jung Center of Houston, another Feldenkrais Mini-Retreat: Moving From the Heart, on Saturday afternoon, November 16, 2024.

Also in person at the Jung Center of Houston, Creating a New Cloth: Nuno Felt Technique. This one is always fun, and sometimes surprising.

One more thing: if you’d like to work with me privately, you can Book an Appointment for a Feldenkrais or Coaching session, or for a free consult. You can even set up a time for a private, or semi-private felting session. Or you can simply reply to this email and let me know what’s most interesting to you.

Have all the fun you can!
