Keep On Movin’

Dear Reader,
Bumper cars is such a great metaphor for how life can be. You accelerate and run into a bumper. Back up, move in a different direction and hit another bump. And so it goes. It could be tempting to just stop—to stay stuck.
Of course, in those literal bumper cars, you’re not going to get anywhere other than in that enclosed space. In life, who knows? But somehow it seems important to keep on movin’. Sometimes it’s baby steps. Other times it’s big, bold leaps. Occasionally—and maybe this should be more frequent—it’s move to a place where you can rest.
What are some of the things that help us to keep on keeping on? Here are some of the things that occur to me:
Friends. Especially friends who see you for who you are and care enough to be both kind and honest.
Hope. Noticing things that have worked before. Appreciating the resources you already have—including these and more: abilities, experience, community, time, money, nature.
Physical Movement. Walk, run, jump, dance, or maybe tiny, thoughtful movements.
Books. Fiction, nonfiction—anything that reminds you that there are other possibilities here in this world. Anything that brings you to an even slightly different place or perspective.
And remember the words of my beloved friend, Marilyn, who said, “It came to pass, not to stay.”
If you’d like some encouragement and guidance along the way, I’d love to work with you. Here are some possibilities:
Our weekly online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson is on Tuesdays, and it’s Free/Pay as You Wish.
If you’d like to work with me privately, you can Book an Appointment for a Feldenkrais or Coaching session, or for a free consult. You can even set up a time for a private, or semi-private felting session. Or you can simply reply to this email and let me know what’s most interesting to you.
As you keep on movin’, may you find fun and joy along the way!
