Too Much, Miss!

Dear Reader,

My daughter taught high school math for a couple of years. Her students would occasionally look back at her and simply say, “Too much, Miss!” Thinking about that phrase makes me smile amidst my own experience of “too muchness.”

It’s easy to look at all the things I want to accomplish and get overwhelmed. When unexpected events pile up, it’s easy to want the world to slow down a bit. What I’ve noticed is that somehow we get through it, even when we thought it would be too much.

You’d think that after so many years on the planet, I’d have figured this out a long time ago. Maybe I’m just slow. I’m beginning to realize that somehow, we almost always find a way through. When I slow down to think about what really needs to get done, what’s really important to me, what can be placed on a list—it gets a bit more manageable.

Not always easy, but manageable. Whew! Even better, when I recognize this, I can set aside the perseveration—yep, I can perseverate—and just do what needs to be done. Step by step by step.

And maybe even have some fun along the way.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Our weekly online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson is midday on Tuesdays and it’s Free/Pay As You Wish. Most of the lessons are lying on your back, doing easy, gentle movements that create better mobility and ease.

More in-person events at the Jung Center of Houston. Felting on Friday, September 12 and Feldenkrais on Friday, October 3. Mark your calendars and watch for details.

If you’d like to work with me privately, you can Book an Appointment or reply to this email and let me know what you’re most curious about.

Have all the fun you can!
