The Liveliness of It All

December 29, 2025/in Awareness Through Movement, Feldenkrais Method, Weekly Newsletter /by Gika Rector

Dear Reader,

It’s been quite a year, y’all!

For me personally, it’s included a dramatic fire, a family member’s health issue, celebrating a friend’s 90th birthday—from afar—and anticipating the arrival of new babies in the family.

I welcomed clients, new and old, and had the privilege of watching them make significant changes.

My oldest granddaughter is growing fast—not so long ago, she was up to my chin and now she’s up to my nose. The others are growing fast too, but this one is the most dramatic at the moment.

I’ve witnessed folks struggling with illness—their own or loved ones. There have been some sad farewells to people who left this life—too soon as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve made a few things, and come up with many more projects I’d like to get started on.

Mostly, life keeps on happening. And we do the best we can to keep on keeping on. Sometimes, it’s boring, or difficult, or painful. Often, it’s delightful, mundane, inspiring, or even joyful.

The longer I’m here on the planet, the more I appreciate that life is what it is. It seems like a good idea to acknowledge the painful parts—to face them as directly as we can. And also to take as much delight as we can in the liveliness of it all.

As we close out this year, my wish for you is that you may find much joy, peace and health in the New Year.

And, of course, Have all the fun you can!

Our last Tuesday online Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson for this year is tomorrow, and it’s still Free/Pay as You Wish. Not a bad way to keep on moving!

Please mark your calendar for Saturday afternoon, February 28, 2026, for my next Feldenkrais mini-retreat. Lift Your Heart: A Feldenkrais Mini-retreat, in person at the Jung Center of Houston.

And, as always, if you’d like to work with me privately—Feldenkrais, coaching or felt-making— you can Book an Appointment or reply to this email and let me know what you’re interested in.

Please note that beginning January 1, my prices will go up a bit. For the remainder of this year, you can buy a package of sessions at the current rate—and you can book the appointments into next year. Let me know if you have questions about that.
