We humans are a bit top heavy. With a ten-pound sphere held at the top of our spines, it’s no wonder that we experience neck and shoulder pain, and sometimes find it hard to balance. This four-session Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement series will explore how we can carry that sphere more easily, as well as take a look at movements within the head that influence how we move. Our eyes, tongue and jaw are tiny compared to the rest of the body, but they have a surprisingly powerful effect on movement.
We’re calling it “From the Top,” but we’ll do most of our explorations lying on the floor, doing simple easy movements. Simple and easy, yes, but profound and delightful changes emerge—almost as if by magic.
