Movement Programs

Movement is life.

So if we improve how we move, perhaps we also improve how we live. Exploring that possibility is at the root of my Feldenkrais practice. All of us move, and all of us have limitations in how we move. Exploring where we move easily and where we don’t is the crux of movement lessons.

What if movement was easier than you thought? No matter who you are and what you can do, if you slow down, pay attention, and explore possibilities, you can learn and improve your abilities.

Feldenkrais lessons create the conditions for this kind of learning. Moshe Feldenkrais liked to say that “if you know what you’re doing, you can do what you want.” So he developed two kinds of lessons to begin this examination of how we do what we do. Group sessions are called Awareness Through Movement® and are primarily guided verbally. Functional Integration® lessons are individual and can be hands-on, verbally guided, or a combination of both.

Bones for Life® is a program developed by Ruthy Alon. Alon, a senior Feldenkrais practitioner and trainer who created BFL to focus on bone health. Arising from her deep understanding of the Feldenkrais Method and in response to student requests, BFL lessons are simple, brief activities designed to improve postural alignment and promote bone health. As with my other movement lessons, Bones for Life can be taught in group or private sessions.
