SUMMARY:The Well-fed Artist: Food in the Midst of Famine
DESCRIPTION:Announcing the first meeting of The Well-fed Artist\, a Meetup group intended to subvert the idea that artists have to starve\, to suffer for their art. Artists can and do live rich\, full lives. How? What does it take? How can they provide nourishment for themselves and one another? \nHosted by coach and fiber artist Gika Rector\, this Meetup group explored what it takes individually and as a community to be well-fed. \nAbout the Meetup group\nThe Well-fed Artist Meetup Group met for several sessions in 2010 and 2011. Each meeting was loosely structured around a theme\, and also included time for individual reflection and conversation. \nThe theme for our first meeting was Food in the Midst of Famine. How do we practice our craft and feed ourselves when resources are scarce? \nParticipants were invited to bring something to share—a snack\, an idea\, or a show-and-tell. \nFee\nThe Well-fed Artist meetups were FREE and open to the public.
